SSS: Score / Support / Skin
War UI and the Gamified Interfaces of the Ukrainian War
This research examines the digital interface layer through which the Ukrainian war is made visible, measurable, supportable and consumable. War UI names the screens, platforms, dashboards, feeds, marketplaces, donation systems and symbolic images that organise how war can be seen and acted upon.
The study is organised around three terms: Score, Support and Skin. Score concerns metrics, rankings and proof. Support examines donation, logistics and remote participation. Skin considers visual identities, videogame aesthetics and the surfaces through which identification becomes possible.
The research begins with a contradiction: Ukraine must defend itself against Russian imperial aggression, while its survival is increasingly mediated through platform capitalism, military technology and algorithmic visibility. The question is what those systems ask of the people who use them.
